Tennessee Air National Guard building cited for LEED green design
The Tennessee Air National Guard's civil enginering building at Memphis International Airport has received the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Gold certification for environmentally friendly design.
The $7.3 million building, dedicated in December 2012, was the final piece of a $245 million, multiyear project to relocate the base within airport property and free up space for FedEx to expand its hub.
The 25,000-square-foot Base Civil Engineering Maintenance & Training Facility was designed by The Crump Firm-Architects, engineered by SSR, Inc. and built by Chris Woods Construction. It has enery and water-saving features and a rooftop solar panel installation to generate electricity.
